Global Lion Dancer Enterprises.Com Newsletter - January 2006

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006!

It's been awhile since we had the opportunity to update this page....  alot has happened since we opened this site in mid 2003 .... the first expansion of our old warehouse in the US.... then the expansion of our facilities in China.... as we developed our business and introduced new products, we became truly international with clients in Europe, across the Continental US, Canada and Latin America!  In order to keep up with demand, we ultimately ran out of space and relocated our warehouse to larger facilities here in the US this past fall.  Before we knew, our new shipments arrived from our factory and the warehouse filled up again.  Fortunately, with Chinese New Year arriving on January 29, 2006, our shipping department has been extremely busy and I thank all of our clients for this (we actually placed a majority of our new inventory at the time of this writing).  As we look forward this year, we hope to be able to further promote the lion dance culture and will be thinking of perhaps sponsoring an east coast lion dance event.  More on this in the coming months.

During this past year, GLD has also been promoting the lion dance culture in many ways.  We've also attended various martial arts competitions and events here in the US and Canada.  It was during one of these events (Yee's Hung Ga Competition), where we were fortunate enough to witness a talented young boy display his martial art skills and walk away with 7 Gold and 1 Silver wins!  Truly attributed to his parents and his instructor!  His name is Alex Woo and is a student of Calvin Chin's Martial Arts Academy.  Here are some photos of him with a kids size Gwan Gung lion head......

Congratulations again Alex on the wins and in keeping the traditions alive!  I'm sure we'll see and hear more of your future competitions.

Chinese New Year 2006 - Year of The Dog!

Chinese New Year is right around the corner!  Hope everyone is starting their practice drills and routines.  Good luck to all of the lion dance troupes and organizations!  See you out there on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day!
